What kind of paint and materials do you use?
Cosmo uses Krylon stock tip spray paints from the local Walmart. He does not use any special tips or stencils. To create the art forms and textures he uses recycled newspaper, cardboard, circular lids and a pallet knife.
How did you learn to do this?
Aerosol-art painting is an art form that is passed down from one artist to another. Cosmo was inspired to learn how to paint from an artist known as Ace . Eight years ago, Ace took Cosmo under his wing and taught him the basics and then sent Cosmo on his way to perfect his craft. Since then he has learned, traded and swapped ideas with over 30 different artists from around the world.
How long have you been painting like this?
Cosmo has been painting like this for over 8 years.
How Can I learn to do this?
Bug, harass and bother an artist until he/she either signs a restraining order against you or he/she agrees to take you on as an apprentice.
Can you paint on anything other than paper?
Cosmo can paint on cars, boats, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, helmets, tanks, doors, walls, floors, ceilings, kitchen cabinets or any non-porous surface that will hold still long enough. For special orders contact Cosmo. You can see some of his custom orders in the Image Gallery.
What is the most interesting you have ever painted?
Cosmo has painted many special order and custom paintings. His portfolio contains numerous car hoods and tailgates, limousines, monster trucks, mailboxes, computer cases, surfboards, skateboards, snow boards, amusement park rides, room ceilings, walls and even the entire floor of 3 retail stores in Florida.
